Relaxing in New York City
The run has now been completed and the last few days have been about realising the accomplishment that I’ve just achieved, but also that my team have been there to support me throughout.
New York City has given me the perfect send off before flying out of the US in a few hours time. There is so much to do in NYC, that to be honest even though I was excited being back in the Big Apple, it was a “Job Done” and time to get home and spend some time with my family.
I had some great people fly over the pond to see me in, firstly Jimmy Archer and Drew Breeze who have supported me throughout the last two years in both advisory and financial roles. If I hadn’t received the support from my family, friends and sponsors this whole adventurous achievement would not have been made possible and it would have stayed a “dream” and actually never turned into reality.
My sponsors Jimmy and Drew took the whole team out for dinner in Manhattan the night after finishing the run in Central Park, and it was great to see everyone dressed up to the nines and enjoying the evening knowing that we didn’t have to get up early the next morning for running. The meal was so big that I must’ve put on at least half a stone from the one evening’s meal and it was also so rich in taste something I haven’t been used to for the last three months. The meal had 9 people around the table, which included my friend Adam and his mum Sharon who also came over to see me finish in Central Park. Adam is a good friend that has supported everything I do and has been to many of my professional boxing matches. Sharon, Adam’s mum brought Adam over because Adam is in a wheelchair and needs some help sometimes, even know he is very stubborn Sharon is also there for both Adam and his brother Matt (thank you for bringing Adam over Sharon).
This is going to be the last journal I write from this whole “Run across America” experience. The run started June 14th from Huntington Beach, California running 3086 miles to the finish at Central Park, New York City. The run was completed after 95 days, which was nearly three weeks earlier than I predicted, but my family were my influence for running 40 miles a day instead of my planned 32 miles.
This is Jackson Williams checking out from the “Run across America” 2007 adventure. I would like to thank everyone that has been part of this adventure in one way or another and hope they can support me in the many endeavours I have planned for the future.
Over and out.
