Run Across America - 1st September - Day 80
Today was the beginning of the countdown as we’re now into the last month of the “Run Across America”. I started running on June 14th, so by the time we arrive in New York City it will be just over three months. There is still a long way to go (nearly 500 miles), but I have been waiting for the start of September for so long that I didn’t think it would actually come around.
The day started off with flat roads (5 miles) but then suddenly just as I thought it was going to be a flat run, the hills begun to open up. The hills then didn’t stop all day and they were rolling up and down, which I haven’t done since Colorado. My legs have been feeling tired lately and didn’t feel like running up many hills but once I started on the first hill, I then got the buzz back that I haven’t felt since running up the Colorado mountains.
There were road signs that Matt (cycling) and I went past today. Firstly we went through a “Norwich” sign then a “Cambridge” sign and finally a sign that said “Jackson Run Road” (honestly). It freaked me out when I saw the last sign. I don’t believe in fate or destiny, but I now think it was there for a purpose.
The last thing that’s going into today’s journal is the random thing that Ben, Alex and myself have decided to do and that’s grow our moustaches for the next two and a half weeks. At the minute Alex and I are called “The Mario brothers” and we haven’t decided on Ben yet. Check out the picture gallery with our new look moustaches.
