Run Across America - 5th August - Day 53

This morning Ben didn’t need to drive to the start point as the RV was parked where I finished last night in an RV campsite. I do prefer running straight from the RV instead of driving to the start point. The day started gloomy as it rained for a couple of hours and I got completely soaked, but I have to run “come rain or shine”. The first small City I ran to this morning was called Kensington, which again had only a couple of shops and a gas station. I had to make an important phone call from the gas station to a very good friend (Neil Featherby) who owns a specialised sports shop called Sport Link that is located in Drayton (near Norwich). If you need professional advice about any sport then please make a short trip if living around Norfolk to Neil’s shop. To be honest if I didn’t have Neil’s insight knowledge then this whole adventure might not have happened. It was a conversation I needed because Neil always gets me confident again if I’m feeling down (thank you Neil).

The afternoon session should have been better weather wise (no rain) but because of the rain in the morning it made running uncomfortable as it was very humid and I went through two t-shirts as I was sweating so much. I don’t enjoy running in climate conditions like that but I’ve got to do what I have to do in order to get to New York.

The finishing point today was near the “Geographic Center of the United States” sign. Once I got to the sign and finished my 40 miles the boys and Natasha (reading her Harry Potter book) picked me up and we took a detour to the see the actual center of the USA. The pictures will be on the gallery (take a look).

This evening we have headed back to the City of Smith Center and booked up to stay at another RV campsite for the night. We are all just chilling out and I’m waiting for Natasha to give me a massage once she finally gets off MSN.

Artist of the day – The greatest musician of all time Michael Jackson.

Regards, Jackson and Team
