Run Across America - 29th August - Day 77

I haven’t been feeling too well in the last couple of days and today I felt even worse but luckily it was only a half day of running (21 miles). I’ve been getting stomach cramps and feeling cold, even though the temperature is nearly 100. I know that I have a mild cold but with my immune system being weaker it’s easier for me to pick up anything that’s going around.

I’m also finding it hard when all I think about is arriving in New York City, which if all goes to plan is just under three weeks time. The afternoon session started okay (12 miles) but when I’ve already run over 2400 miles it starts to take it’s toll on my legs and I do feel like an old man whenever I start off running, but once into the rhythm I feel good again.

Ohio has been hotter than I expected and it feels like the Kansas weather, which I did struggle with at times, as it was very humid. Matt joined me for the full 21 miles on the bicycle. It does help him being there to motivate me when I start to slow down with my running pace.

The team between them have read at least 20 books with Alex on top with 9 books finished. Natasha is also now getting into the Alex and Ben role, with reading when there’s nothing to do, which is most of the time when Matt and I are on the road.

The journal is going to be shorter tonight, as I don’t feel too well I’m lying in my bed with two jumpers on just to keep warm whilst the others have shorts on.
