Run Across America - 28th August - Day 76
Today we entered into Ohio where I’d been looking forward to reaching another state sign, but I run straight past it because it was so small that Matt had to bike back and take a picture of the sign without me. It was another day on the “lonely road” and I’m glad to have the company of someone on the bike, even though we will listen to our music as he have covered most of the stories, and you don’t need to speak to someone all the time.
The morning started a little later (9am) as I was speaking to Keith Colman (Bryan Gunn Leukaemia Appeal) about the funds and how things over in the UK were going. I always told my charities that once I was in America I couldn’t control how money would be raised and I will have to rely on them to keep the fund raising up. At the minute I have 5 restaurants in the Norwich area that are kindly helping with the donations and I do appreciate their help throughout this charity challenge.
The running was made difficult today because I’ve still got a stomach bug and with the hot weather in Ohio it has affected the way I run. The heat was out for most of the day and we even ran out of drink, so I had to go to a house and ask if they could help with providing some water. The man there went one better and gave Matt and me a big bottle of power drink each (Gatorade).
I had been worrying about the floods in Ohio that had been making worldwide news, so I asked some local people and they gladly informed me that the floods were 2 hours north from where we were (god bless anyone from the Ohio area that has been affected from the floods).
Lastly I like to thank my family, friends and supporters that have given me the inner strength throughout this challenge especially through the many tough times I have faced so far. Thank you to Natasha’s mum (Vanessa Rout) for reading out the newspaper article (Evening News) over the telephone, when Annie did an interview about me being away for an extended period of time from my beautiful family.
