Run Across America - 27th August - Day 75

Today I started running 10 miles short of a place called Dunreith heading towards the new state of Ohio. I do hate the morning sessions because my muscles feel stiff all over just like an old man and it’s not a good feeling. I truly can’t wait for the miles to be covered and to run over the line in New York City. By the end of today there will be three weeks left to the finish. It feels like Christmas, because the more I look forward to it, it takes twice as long to arrive.

Matt joined me again for the morning session of 20 miles as we went through some interesting places like Cambridge and Dublin. The Americans don’t seem to understand the concept of copying names, even though UK has some of the best. The temperature for the day was around 86 and it was comfortable in the morning but it started to burn my back in the afternoon. I was even sick a few times in the afternoon session because I had some pasta for dinner and I didn’t give it time to digest before setting off running again.

The afternoon session was tough because of the sun on my back and being sick, so it made the session uncomfortable and an afternoon “I’d like to forget”. The finish for today ended 2 miles short of a new state line of Ohio and it will be our 10th. I do like crossing into new states because I then have only 5 left to the finish.

The worry about crossing into Ohio is the floods that occurred a few weeks back, which caused lots of damage around the state. Let’s just hope that we bypass the damaged areas without any hiccups. The team are realising now that there is not much time left together and even though we’re been through some tough times together we are still all here together (apart from Trevor) and fighting on to the finish.

Tonight Alex is cooking chicken wraps, which when Alex does them they are top notch. We all jumped into the pool at the RV campsite which also had a whirlpool for my tired legs. The owner of the RV park was such a grumpy lady and I had to make sure that she knew that, as she showed disrespect to me after I was telling her what I was doing, so I made her feel very uncomfortable and stupid in front of some of her customers.
