Run Across America - 15th August - Day 63

The day started at 08:00am as again my alarm clock wasn’t working (honestly). We stayed at a national park last night and it had a swimming pool on the grounds and I was looking forward to jumping into the pool. I got everything ready and headed over before realising it was closed so I decided on trying to climb the fence not caring about my feet. I got half way up before changing my mind and having a shower on the RV.

The day started as normal with Matt joining me on the bike for 10 miles before we stopped at the RV had a nice cuppa tea and checked our emails before I had to make a few urgent phone calls. Firstly I called my girl Annie to make sure her mouth was okay after yesterday’s operation (wisdom teeth). She informed me that there was an infection in her mouth and it was swelling and also to top the conversation off my little Poppy was stung by a wasp on her hand and she was screaming for a while. When I hear what’s happening at home I just want to get on the plane back home, but I know that being nearly 2/3 of the way through I would regret it and I hope Annie understands why?

I have decided that I don’t want Annie to fly out to New York City and meet me at the finish line as it’s going to be hard to organise and expensive for me to cover. Annie and I also thought it was unfair for my little Poppy to fly for 7 hours on the plane. I also discussed the same query with my mama as she has bad legs and the doctor told her it would be dangerous to fly for that length of time. I know that both Annie and my mama would come over if I asked them but I don’t won’t to jeopardise anything, so my family are instead going t meet me at Heathrow airport upon my arrival.

Back to the run and all day I was thinking about the having my family in New York but however hard the decision was, it was the right one and I only have to wait 2 extra days after finishing to finally see them in London. It was a day that I want to forget and we all just want to get to New York and complete this tough challenge together.
