Run Across America - 9th July - Day 26
It was another good day with my running as I completed 40 miles over the day. In the morning my legs were stiff and I didn’t feel like running and that I could just lie in bed, but Trevor got me out of my pit and ready for breakfast. The morning session is always the worst, so if I have someone join me I will increase the pace and then actually wake up. Today Alex joined me for 8 miles and we kept a good pace, which, after Alex finished, I continued on to the 20 mile mark.
The afternoon session was a complete contrast to the morning session and I kept up a good pace throughout. I ran through some small towns again today and we are beginning to see the real America and not the parts everyone else does (Disney world, etc). The real Americans live in these small towns and they appreciate people like me running through their town and giving them a bit of notice. I stopped by a gas station today and they asked where I was from and, once I had told them what I was doing in town, they couldn’t believe it and would ask for my website address or even a signature.
The 40 miles was completed around my normally time of 8 hours (5 miles per hour) and it was the completion of 800 miles, so next stop is going to be a big four figure number.
