Run Across America - 4th July - Day 21
(American Independence Day)
Today started off getting up at 6.30am and finally leaving the RV at 8am. I have now got into the routine of running 4 hours before taking a break for lunch (also getting a leg massage from either Trevor or Natasha) and then completing another 4 hours, hopefully covering over 32 miles that is required to keep on schedule. I actually ran my furthest today (42 miles in just over the 8 hours) and it was very tough, but I had my mind set on breaking my previous record and I did just that. I did hit the wall today at about 25 miles, but I had to keep going and just remember why I’m running longer miles (too get home sooner to see my little Poppy and Annie). The running again today was mostly up mountain roads (tight thighs and abdominals), so I am used to the roads now, but I can’t wait for the incline to stop and finally get to run mostly downhill towards the east coast.
The scenery in south Utah is very beautiful and today I ran through some more petite towns the first was Glendale and then moving onto Panguitch, which was our finishing spot to celebrate American Independence Day with another BBQ that Alex had put together. We met some nice American’s on the RV campsite tonight who were discussing some nice places that we will be going through in the future and what to be looking out for (thank you guys).
Artist of the day – Eva Cassidy (so beautiful and peaceful when running)
