Run Across America - 30th July - Day 47

It was only a half day of running (22 miles) as I’d covered 120 miles in the three previous days, so we all had a sleep in until around 11am. Even though it’s meant to be a later start to the day I still seem to get up at the same time of 6.30am. Today was one of the day’s I call my Annie and it’s so good to hear her and my little Poppy on the phone. Poppy sounds like a little girl and Annie says her best word is ‘DUCK’ and she says it to everyone. I can’t wait to see them both in New York so she can say it to me. My mama told Annie that when she comes to New York she is not staying in the same hotel as Annie and I because we will be too loud (only my mum would say something like that). I miss my girls so much that when I’m on the road on your own for up to 9 hours it gets lonely and sometimes I feel like saying that’s enough. My legs are feeling fine and that’s not an issue but mentally when you have nothing around you have to be so head strong just to see you through the day. Around 52 days and the team and I will be finally in New York. The team are the best especially for putting up with my mood swings, they have to be saints. Whilst I writing this blog they are outside by the camp fire that Alex and Ben lit up.

Today I finished in a place called Idalia, which has a restaurant called ‘Route 36 Grill and Pub’ and they have to most delicious cheesecake (takeaway). Once I’d rushed into the restaurant to collect my cheesecake we headed off towards a Colorado National Park, which is about 13 miles from tomorrow’s start point. Tonight is just a chill out and I’ve kept myself to myself as I’m not to best to be around when I’m missing my girls. Tomorrow should be a better day because Alex repaired the bike, so Natasha and Alex are going to take it in turns (10 miles each) just to keep me company. Roll on New York.

PS – As we are in the middle of no where we can’t sometimes get any internet connection, which is why it might be three to four days before an update on the website (sorry everyone).
