Run Across America - 26th July - Day 43
It was only a half day of running (20 miles) so it was a later start to the day (11am) meaning we all got a few well needed extra hours in bed. Natasha decided on running with me for 12 miles starting just outside Golden and running towards Colfax Avenue towards State Capitol. It’s a building you can see for miles (Gold Dome) in Denver City. I was running at a 7mph as I like it when I have lots of buildings around me as my automatic reaction is to run faster. The pace began to get a bit too much for young Natasha as she still has a bad knee, so I slowed it down until we got to the RV.
I ran the last 8 miles through downtown Denver and there I witnessed the vast difference between the business side of the City and downtown. It’s weird when you see block party’s, etc on TV, but when you see one for real it’s a bit surreal. I decided the quickest way of running through downtown was on the road and not the sidewalk as there were lot’s of people getting in my way and I was running at a fast pace.
I have now got my confidence back and feeling as New York is still along way, but as long as I take one day at a time I will get there. The team and I went out for dinner tonight in downtown Denver at some American diner, where Alex and I had steak with Natasha and Ben deciding on burgers. Whilst having our dinner we were also watching the Colorado Rockies Vs LA Dodgers in Denver (not sure of the result). It’s now a quiet evening where Natasha and Ben have gone out for a walk and Alex and I are using the laptops. We have the life of luxury, living in an RV with hardly any space, no TV and everyone always farting (Natasha is the worst).
Artist of the day – No music just noisy cars in Denver City
