Run Across America - 19th July - Day 36

After yesterday’s much needed rest day I was actually missing being on the road and just hoped that my left knee would feel better once running. Alex advised me in the morning that because I’m currently running in Colorado and soon over the Rockie Mountains it’s important to pace myself and remember New York City is our final destination. I am a very stubborn person, so it’s unlike me to take some advice from someone.

Today my running mileage was cut down from 40 miles to a more reasonable 32, which I should be able to cope with until after the Rockie Mountain’s (High terrain). I don’t want to resort to other methods of travelling across America, but if my knee doesn’t get any better then I have to make the decision on whether to run 20 miles and then bike the other 20 miles, which means taking the pressure off my left knee, but also meaning the ‘Run across America’ tag would be removed. It will be my decision and as long as I arrive in New York in one piece with no serious damage then that’s all that matters.
