Run Across America - 16th July - Day 33
It was a rather unexpected day of running as I firstly ran 10 miles just outside of Vernal, Utah into a new state (Colorado). We took some pictures at the “Welcome to Colorado” sign with Alex being the narrator looking after the video footage. Once crossing into Colorado the first new town was named Dinosaur, which was a small but lively place and whilst running through I came cross a small café called Bedrock Café. The place looked so welcoming, I just had to pop in and have a mocha coffee. I explained to the owner Bill that I was running across America and he generously gave me my drink for free (Thank you Bill). I then took the drink outside and sat there chatting to a friendly couple from the east coast and they were telling me about their vacation on the west coast. They even had a picture taken with me, as they couldn’t believe I was running across America.
Today was the big 1000 milestone from the “Race Across America” route and it was a good feeling crossing our first big milestone and moving onto the next. My left knee was still playing up a bit, but with the new support on it, it did make it easier as it was a 43 mile day and I couldn’t be doing with any knee pain.
Tonight we are staying in an RV park, which is in the middle of nowhere, but I got it free of charge so there is not a problem with a freebie.
Artist of the day – Bernard Fanning (best album I’ve heard for a long while, go and buy it as will blow you away)
