Run Across America - 15th July - Day 32

Today was the dreaded leaving date for Dr Trevor Bennett. He had been a great asset to the team and will be greatly missed by all of us, especially on my part, as he was my sports masseur and “one of the lads”. We had a team meeting this evening to discuss what was best about Trevor and we will miss the most. 1) Bad sleeping habits (sleeping upright in his y-fronts during the day) 2) Farting all the time and blaming others 3) Coffee grinding at 6.30 in the morning 4) Washing up all the time 5) Drunkenness (crawling on his hands and knees) 6) Getting his tackle out 7) Last but not least his great massages.

It was only a half day of running as I had ran three 40 mile sessions in the previous days (120 miles), so it was important to have an easy day on the road. As Trevor was packing and getting his things ready it was essential that we all spent a little more time with the “great man” from Sheringham, Norfolk.

I have had a few problems with my left knee over the past few days.  I’ve been trying to find ways to cope with the pain (painkillers and knee support) but nothing really seems to be working and I guess it’s a case of getting used to it. We are 5 days ahead of schedule so if my knee does get a bit painful then I may be walking for a while until it’s healed a little. The day was cut short when I felt my knee twitch a bit and even though I bought a knee support it made my leg get hot and sweaty and feel very uncomfortable, so we headed to the pharmacy to get something better to put on for tomorrow.

The evening was a bit strange without Trevor, but we will have to get used to the idea and the show must go on. My friend Matt Chapman will be arriving in a few weeks to bring the team back to 5 and some fresh Chapman moves are always appreciated.
