Run Across America - 25th June - Day 12
It was back up at 5am with Trevor making the tea and getting us out of bed. I haven’t run for two days but all the walking through Las Vegas was still a good work out and I was actually a little stiff in my legs. Alex joined me today for the first 10 miles and he enjoyed it (he says). After missing my family yesterday I was working out in my head how many miles I should cover with breaks throughout the run in order to get back quicker to New York and see my little Poppy and Annie (Will let you know later).
Alex had worked out a quicker route on getting into Las Vegas, which meant going on the Highway 95 and not using the route from the race across America. I agreed and said lets try it for the day and if the road was too dangerous then we would drive back and use the either route. It turned out that even though there are a few too many Lorries I had plenty of space to avoid them if needed.
Nevada state – We have finally crossed the California/ Nevada border and it felt good to know that we only have 13 more states to cross before New York City. My legs felt strong in the morning session, but my eyes were tired, so once I completed the first 20 miles I took a nap on the bed for a few hours (watching the poker tired us all out). Natasha gave my legs a massage just after I woke up and then I hit the road for another 17 miles. My feet are now getting used to the road and Trevor keeps putting Surgical Spirit on my feet to harden them up (its working).
Natasha and I had another argument today as we do clash, and she doesn’t like being told what to do by me (I’m picking on her), but she knew before the trip what it was going to be like. I hate it when we fight and being on such a small motor home there is no hiding from anyone. We have this like/hate relationship, I do like her (she thinks not) and she hates me.
I am sitting by the computer typing out this blog with Natasha still furious so I am now going to get 5 hours sleep before getting the ‘Trevor’ wake up call.
