Today was a complete day off and we all just slept in as Alex, Ben and I didn’t arrive back from Caesars Palace until early morning as we were watching a poker match at the Caesars Palace casino. I can’t wait until tomorrow morning arrives so I can get back on the road and start running. I planned for these two days off because of the Ricky Hatton fight, and even know I’ve ran over 256 miles in just over a week, I do feel lazy and don’t know what to do as we don’t have money to spend.
Today was a hard (emotional) because I realised my family are so important and miss them so much, but I haven’t let it affect me yet because I’ve been so busy with running and getting things ready. I heard my little Poppy and Annie’s voice today on the telephone and it nearly brought a tear to my eye as she was trying to talk down the telephone (wonder if she know it’s Daddy?). It was so hard, because I could have got back onto the aeroplane and forgot about the run across America. I always knew there was going to be times when I missed my family, but when it started I wasn’t sure.
I spoke to Annie about it and she says just get on with it as it was my decision to leave my family for an extended period whilst I did my selfish thing, so I have to deal with it (she is right).
Tonight we had to drive back to into California to where we finished Friday night (100 miles) and camp up in a gas station parking lot for the night (what a life we lead).
