Run Across America - 21st June - Day 8

Today was tough! Yesterday I ran 40 miles and felt comfortable with both my feet and the heat, but today was a different story. Firstly we had to travel back to the spot we finished the night before, which was nearly 50 miles overall and the start time of running was nearly 09:00am, but with the heat I was planning the start at least an hour earlier.

The reasons I found it tough today was 1) I had no music as the ipod has sizzled with the heat and wouldn’t work at all by the end of yesterday. 2) The heat at 09:00am was nearly 100degrees and running 32 miles with the above problems made it a very lonely and uncomfortable. The last 12 miles were made easier with my team taking it in turns to share the load of running alongside me. Alex ran the first 5 miles before almost passing out and then Natasha completed the last 7 miles.

I prepared myself mentally for the run as I knew it was going to be lonely most of the time, but with some music the day does go faster and becomes a little more enjoyable. My legs are still feeling fresh, but my feet are still adapting to the terrain and once that happens I should run that little further each day.

Tomorrow night is Las Vegas night so I have another big day tomorrow and then we are driving to Vegas.

If there are any potential sponsors reading this blog, then please make a small contribution to either help fund the run if we run out of cash or donate to my chosen charities.

The whole purpose of this run is to 1) Run across America 2) Raise money for the Leukaemia appeal and Radio Broadland Kidz.

Artist of the day – Me (I was humming a lot today just to pass the time).
