Run Across America - 18th June - Day 5

Today was back on Route 66 so I came to the conclusion that in order to get to New York I need to run through some remote, boring location’ s, so I had my mindset that today was going to be one those days. The heat was getting even hotter around 105 degrees Fahrenheit but with my lovely sweaty running cap on, which has white sweat marks all the way around the rim, similar to the Mojave Mountains I was running through. Again today was more long roads for me but the exciting bit was with the team that had actually got searched by the US Marine Corps police as they were within two hundred metres of government property and the Marine Corps don’t trust anyone. The team had to move on a few miles extra for me to run, but Trevor and I were within the compounds of the government property as Trevor decided to join me for 30 minutes which ended up around 1 hour during the lunch time heat. We were also questioned by the police just as we were leaving the compound but we used our English charm and they were cool as the run was for charity.

Finished the day running around 7 miles per hour for the last 6 miles and ended up getting another nose bleed that I couldn’t control, so I just pinched the bridge of my nose and kept running to the RV.

The team had found a nice RV site for the next three nights, which does mean driving backwards and forwards for a few days but I don’t like sleeping in the middle of the desert if I can help it.
